In-Depth Conversation: Solidarity and the Shift to the Right
Fighting against rightwing politics is not art. Hard work and the participation of many people is necessary in order to ght against the shift to the right across the world. Diplomatic skills, the courage for critical self-questioning and the ability to withstand the conditions are also necessary. The pressure is increasing, time is running out. The alliances are growing, but so are the questions as to how we, who are (still) artists, can bring ourselves together with greater solidarity and what an internationalization of this struggle looks like or has to look like. The artist and Marxist political activist Despina Panagiotopoulou from Athens has been dealing with the phenomenon of hipster facism for many years and is now seeking allies to revolt against the occupation of the arts by right-wing populists. In doing so, she questions the role of identity politics in times of extreme wright-wing neoreactionary voices that are growing increasingly loud.
