Martin Stiefermann, Ilia Papatheodorou, Max Schumacher: Plan, Process, Document – What (Trans)Forms Ideas?

A dance, theater or performance production goes through several stages. From the concept in the funding application to the work during the rehearsal process and then to the premiere – and from there finally into the documentation. How much do which factors change the basic idea – and to what extent does the funding system actually want to know in advance what will be produced at the end of the process? In other words: are questions or answers allowed by the funders? How much research has to precede a research project? How unfree/standardized does the usual practical experience (through funders and the accompanying performance venues) make artistic processes? And what are other possibilities for these processes? And how do independent productions change that (perhaps surprisingly) run for years? And what knowledge can be integrated into political demands?

Max Schumacher (post theater), Ilia Papatheodorou (She She Pop) and Martin Stiefermann (MS Schrittmacher) have collected wide-ranging specialist knowledge in independent work over the course of decades.

Participants:

Martin Stiefermann (MS Schrittmacher/LAFT Berlin)
