Pathologizing in Theater and Therapy
Pathologizing in Theater and Therapy
In cooperation with Sophiensæle / Festival „Save Your Soul!”
The therapeutic aspect of theater is currently being reflected on in a variety of theater productions and Sophiensæle is dedicating an entire festival to this phenomenon at the same time as the Industry Get-Together. On the structural level as well, this creates an interesting connection between the areas of theater and therapy, especially in reference to the topic of judgement: According to the exact definition, curators are not far from the job description of a therapist, working as a caretaker (curare). Viewed from this standpoint, judgement, assessment and classification processes in both fields are described in similar ways. What can theater and therapy learn from each other in order to conceive and design the relationship between curator/therapist and the respective person receiving care to be more equal?
