Theater Studies and the Discussion About a New Theater Landscape in Germany

For some time, it has been increasingly discussed in Germany whether the traditional state and municipal theater system is still viable for the future, which exclusionary measures it produces and how the independent performing arts communities can gain more ground. The field of theater studies has also intensively concerned itself with these questions. This lecture should provide a brief overview of the perspectives that theater studies have developed for the debate about institutions.
