Thomas Venker: Pop & Insolvency
Thomas Venker: Pop & Insolvency
Thomas Venker has been writing about pop music since the early 1990s. He got to know musicians, their work and their production conditions in the pre-Napster era and then accompanied them throughout all of the highs and, most of all, the lows, in this industry. As a result, after years as the editor-in-chief of Intro, he founded Kaput – Magazin für Insolvenz & Pop (Kaput – Magazine for Insolvency & Pop) together with Linus Volkmann.
Here, in reports and interviews with members of the pop music community, he reflects upon how their work and their lives have changed and which strategies they choose in order to overcome the challenges of independent producing, marketing, performing and living. During the Industry Get-Together, he will share the knowledge he has gleaned from this work.
