Under the motto “Social insurance for artists – so that the independent performing arts community can work independently!”, the Künstlersozialkasse (known to many as the KSK, the German public social insurance fund for artists), provides social insurance contributions for independent artists and publicists. At the same time, company, institutions, et cetera are obligated to contribute to the KSK. This information event with presentation intends to make the legal backdrop of the Künstlersozialversicherungsgesetz (KSVG, the German Federal Law on Social Insurance for Artists), which many are unaware of and/or confused by, more familiar and easier to understand. Points of focus include the prerequisites for qualifying for this insurance, status as someone starting out in the field and approved options for side gigs.
