Symposium 2018: International Meeting of Independent Performing Arts Producers

Together with Dachverband Tanz Deutschland and our third partner Catalan Institute for Cultural Companies (ICEC) we warmly invite you to the two-day expert event International Meeting of Independent Performing Arts Producers that we are putting together in September 2018 in Barcelona and Terrassa!

We invite you to exchange with experts on the topics of production, distribution and touring, discuss various working models and the profession of “producer”, as well as to become acquainted with the local performing arts community, attend the TNT Festival in exclusive company and get to know international colleagues! 

Thursday, September 27, approximately 9:00 am - 6:00 pm

Nicky Childs (Artsadmin London) will present Artsadmin's very particular model and structure and how it became what it is now: a unique resource for supporting and producing independent artists in the UK working with them in a variety of ways at different stages of their development. She will also share some knowledge gained from her many years of experience as a producer as well as exploringthoughts around defining job roles, responsibilities and the associated challenges.

In addition, Vicens Mayans (Agente129) and other colleagues (tba) will present their local offices and their respective working methods.

Over the course of a subsequent group tour through Barcelona, we will visit three performance venues within the independent performing arts community and get to know their artistic directors: Mercat de les Flors, Hiroshima, El Graner. We will bring this first day to a close with a shared dinner and informal conversations.
 
Friday, September 28, approximately 9:00 am - 6:00 pm

The second day will take place in Terrassa – we will share a lunch with industry professionals attending the TNT Festival from all over the world as well as meet the artistic director Pep Pla, see performances and visit the official opening of the festival in the evening.
