Ana Hupe

Ana Hupe (born 1983, Rio de Janeiro, lives in Berlin, www.anahupe.com) is an artist and researcher. After spending a year doing research at the UdK Berlin in the class of Hito Steyerl, she received her doctorate in fine arts at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2016). Hupe is dedicated to rescuing erased stories of resistance, which she rewrites in several narrative installations, thus creating a counter-memory to the colonial archive. Hupe is currently researching art relations in Yoruba culture in Nigeria, Cuba and Brazil for the exhibition "Footnotes to triangular Cartographies", which will be shown in Brazil, at RAI, Lagos, Nigeria and at Galerie Bernau in Berlin. Hupe was part of several collective exhibitions in spaces such as Savvy Contemporary, Berlin; M_Bassy, Hamburg; Haus am Kleistpark, Berlin; and in residencies such as Vila Sul, Goethe Institut Salvador, Artist x Artist, Cuba; Kunstkvarteret Lofoten, in Norway, among others.
